Classes For 2008 and Winter Workshops
Virginia Farm runs a range of classes and workshops during the
year, see details below:

We cater for beginners to experienced spinners who wish to experiment
with fancy yarns and specialty fibres such as silk. It is preferable to learn on your own
wheel, but we can hire you a wheel until you are sure of the type you
like. .
Where : Virginia Farm Wool Works,
When : Tuesdays 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 , with a coffee break.
– $15 per lesson Fleece/fibre used in
class is charged extra, or you may like to
provide your own.
Wheel Hire : Take-
home hire is $3 per week, with a refundable deposit required. Wheels may be used
during classes without charge and other
equipment is available for general use

Time:1 :30
pm - 4:30 pm on Fridays.
How Much: $75 for block of 4 lessons,
payable in advance. ($20 per casual
lesson).
Tutor:
Marie Clews, a qualified teacher holding advanced Certificates in
Handweaving and Tapestry Weaving.
Loom Hire, if needed:
$3 per week. It is necessary to
have a 4 shaft table loom to bring to class.
This course covers planning a project, winding
a warp, threading the loom and weaving.
Reading a weaving draft, and using simple computer weaving
programmes.. After the basics, more
complex 4 and 8 shaft weaves will be explored. For further information, phone or email.
WINTER WEEKEND WORKSHOPS
The advertised 2 day hat workshop on 21/22nd
June has been cancelled due to lack of numbers.
Saturday 12th
July 2008 HAND MADE FELT – TIPS & TECHNIQUES
This 1 day workshop will introduce different
methods of felt making – flat felt,
using a resist for shaped pieces, felted jewellery & fun items and
needle felting. After basic
information and sampling, small items such as placemat, glasses case and jewellery will be made and
decorated during the day. Students will
learn to choose fleece, calculate shrinkage, lay out, felt and full pieces and
then other different methods of hand felting.
Cost: $77,
including m/tea & lunch, plus a $10

Saturday 2nd
August, 2008. HANDBAGS GALORE
No woman can have too many! A 1 day workshop learning to make
different types of bags using resist and inlay techniques, and different decorative finishes and handle
types. Patterns and notes provided. It will be preferable if students have
already learned basic felting skills.
